Product Review: Bio Oil

Hi ladies,

Today we're talking Bio-Oil.

There was a lot of hype around this product when it first came out, which really made me want to try it: my face and body are scar-mania. When it first came out it was crazy expensive, but I got a bottle of it at Shoppers for like $11 so I thought I'd give it a try.

This is really just a teaser post because the jury's still out on this one: it's recommended that you use it for 3 months in order to see results and I've only been using it for two weeks, but I thought I'd share my thoughts on this so far.

This is a fairly thick oil that smells really pleasant - pretty much exactly the same as Skin-So-Soft if you ask me. The idea is that you massage this into skin twice a day and rub in until absorbed. I've been using it on my cheeks (I have a lot of acne scars) and my dark knees. During the week I only use it once a day on my face; I apply it for bed but there's no way I could put this on my face before my makeup. So far I see not a lick of difference; in fact I think it may be making the clogged pores on my face even worse! But I'm reserving judgement since it has only been a few weeks...

The wiwfm verdict on this one is we'll see. Have any of you tried it? I'd love to hear your feedback. Drop me a comment!

Yes I've been using it for a few months but only on my body, i'm afraid of oils on my face. I actually use it mixed with my regular body lotion. I had a severe rash all over my body at the beginning of August (trust me it was gross and I wouldn't even leave my house) the rash left scaly scars everywhere. I continued to use the Bio Oil/lotion mixture and on the really bad scars pure Bio Oil. I have no lasting scars. I don't know if that is attributed to the Bio Oil but it didn't hurt so I'll continue using it.

I'm so glad I stumbled across your blog. I've started a similar blog called Bio-Oil Review a couple of months ago to document whether or not Bio-Oil will fade my scar. I feel like letting the whole world know that it has dramatically improve the appearance of it in three months. It's also an excellent moisturizer and works well in evening out my skin tone.

I am very interested in hearing how Bio-Oil will work out with you. I look forward to seeing your future posts.

All the best,

FP

P.S- Visit my Bio-Oil Review site as I have scar photos that shows the stages of improvement. I hope you and your readers find it helpful.

I don't know how well it works on existing scars, I believe the idea behind it and any other vitamin E-rich oil is that you apply it while the lesion is still healing.

For example, I've found that my vitamin E oil really helps right after a zit pops or on a cut. I apply it as it goes through the healing process. The idea being that the oil helps protect and moisturize the area so the cells can swim across and connect properly, and I think the vitamin E feeds them or something (I have to check on that).

I don't know if it works on existing scars, but it would be great if it did! Has anyone had success with old scars?

I have been using Bio Oil twice a day for the last six months and I am amazed at the results. I had never heard of Bio Oil before until my mum bought me a bottle, she bought me a bottle of it because I was forever complaining about the appearance of the stretch marks I have on my belly and boobs. My stretch marks started appearing at the age of seventeen when I was pregnant my son and I'm now twenty two. So for the last five years I have been really ...
...purple and clearly visible. I was convinced that the stretch marks would always remain the same colour and never fade, I even nicknamed my stretch marked belly, I call it my Freddie Crougar belly. Bio Oil is an oil based substance which can be used to treat and reduce the appearance of skin problems such as scars stretch marks and blemishes. Bio Oil is oil based and has a gorgeous scent which is quite light and calming.

Yes, it definitely does. I have been using bio oil from approx 4 months, and its has seriously made my skin softer, even out & glowy. I dont have stretch marks but i use it as a face oil and I LOVE IT!!! Even my pimple spots have also reduced to a great extent. It works on oily skin as well. Its not kinda sticky oily, it gets absorbed in the skin well. I will suggest the same to everyone. You can get it from here - Bio-oil
